Submissions

  • Print Submissions: We are currently accepting print submissions for our inaugural issue. There are no fees for submissions.
  • Online Submissions: We are currently accepting submissions for digital publication and on our substack. There are no fees for submissions. Online submissions are also given print consideration.
  • Poetry: Poetry submissions may be in any form or style with no limitations. We prefer poetry that reflects the concept of "organic form". For more about organic form, we recommend reading this essay by Denise Levertov:

  • Prose: Prose submissions may be up to 1000 words for a single piece of flash fiction, or up to 3000 words for short stories.

    We prefer fiction that stems, in some way, from a moral premise. For more on the concept of the moral premise, see the website of Stan Williams: https://stanwilliams.com/MORALPREMISE/

    (NB. A "moral premise" does not mean a story that moralizes.)
  • Non-fiction: We are currently looking for craft essays up to 1500 words (with a small grace period) on the art of writing, and in particular the creative theory behind it.
  • Art & Photography: We are seeking limited submissions of visual art and photography that captures "place".

Submission Guidelines

Please ensure that all submissions are in .docx file format and utilizing 12 point Times New Roman or similar font.

Prose submissions should be double spaced. Poetry should be formatted how you wish it to appear in print. For print submissions, please bear in mind that our print editions measures 6″x9″. You may submit up to three poems at a time in a single submission.

By submitting, you affirm that your work is original, previously unpublished, and that you own all the necessary rights. Please only make one submission at a time and wait to hear back from us before submitting again.

Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Please notify us if your submitted work is accepted elsewhere.

Cover letters are welcome but not necessary. However, please include a brief bio. Cover letters and bios should be in the body of your email.

By submitting, should your work be accepted, you agree to grant Twin Lions Review first publication rights, the one-time permission to publish your work in print and online, and the one-time right to include your work in a future anthology.

Twin Lions Review is not currently a paying publication, as we are just getting started. However, we hope to be able to compensate our contributors soon. Also, be on the look out for contests and the opportunity to win prizes coming within our first year.
